On a cold December morning in 2016, the life of 23-year-old Deandre Hodge was tragically cut short in Capitol Heights, Maryland. A resident of Southeast D.C., the young Black man was discovered outside in the 4700 block of Mann Street by Prince George's County Police officers who were conducting a welfare check at approximately 7 a.m. on December 3rd.
Hodge was suffering from a gunshot wound and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence, suggesting that Hodge may have been targeted. Despite this initial assessment, a motive for the killing remained elusive to authorities. In the days and weeks that followed, the police actively sought leads, urging the public to come forward with any information that might shed light on the circumstances surrounding Hodge's death. To encourage community cooperation, a substantial reward of up to $25,000 was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest and indictment in the case.
Despite the ongoing investigation and the financial incentive for information, the case has grown cold. To date, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Deandre Hodge. The community and his family are left with unanswered questions and a sense of unresolved justice as the search for those responsible continues.
