In the early evening hours of a Monday in January 2017, gunshots shattered the routine of a South Baltimore neighborhood. When police responded to the 3600 block of South Hanover Street at approximately 6:10 p.m., they discovered 38-year-old Jamal Washington suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency medical services transported him to a local shock trauma center where he was placed on life support.
Despite medical efforts, the male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead the following Tuesday.
According to the initial police investigation, Mr. Washington was standing on the block with two other unidentified men at the time of the incident.
