On a Tuesday afternoon, the 7th of March in 2017, the life of 29-year-old Lafeal Sinclair was tragically cut short in a parking lot in Suitland, Maryland. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 2:10 p.m. in the 3900 block of Suitland Road, police discovered Sinclair suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was swiftly transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The investigation into
Sinclair's death quickly pointed towards a drug-related robbery as the motive. It was revealed that Sinclair had arranged to sell a half-pound of marijuana to the suspect, Charles Romain. This transaction, however, took a violent turn, leading to the fatal shooting of Sinclair. A witness who had been in contact with Sinclair just before the incident provided investigators with crucial information about the planned drug deal between the two men.
The suspect, 24-year-old Charles Romain of Alexandria, Virginia, was apprehended on the very same day as the murder. Following a brief chase, he was arrested by Alexandria sheriff's deputies and police officers near the King Street Metro station. Romain was subsequently charged with first and second-degree murder in connection with Lafeal Sinclair's death and was held in Alexandria awaiting extradition to Prince George's County.
