On a summer day in 2017, the life of 30-year-old Edgardo Castro Estremera was tragically cut short. On June 17th, he and another man, Angel Luis Mendez Crespo, were found deceased by a motel employee inside a room at the Motel 6 in the Woodlawn area of Baltimore, MD. Both men had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The discovery prompted an immediate and intensive homicide investigation by the Baltimore County Police.
Investigators diligently worked the case, seeking to understand the motive
behind the double homicide and to identify those responsible. Their efforts soon led them to two suspects, Terica Antoinette Evans, then 30, and Derrick Ramont Simmons, 24. The pair were not only linked to the murders of Estremera and Crespo but also to the killing of another man, Kyle Jovan Fulton, which had occurred weeks earlier on May 24th. A significant breakthrough in the investigation came from surveillance footage that showed similarities between the crimes, ultimately connecting Evans and Simmons to all three homicides.
Following their identification, both Terica Antoinette Evans and Derrick Ramont Simmons were apprehended by law enforcement. They were subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Edgardo Castro Estremera and Angel Luis Mendez Crespo. After their arrest, both suspects were held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bail as they awaited trial for the multiple killings.
