In the early morning hours of November 5, 2017, a dispute in the parking lot of a Randallstown, Maryland bar escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 34-year-old Keonta Montez Lyons, a Black/African American male. The incident occurred at the Slate Lounge on Liberty Road, where a large fight had broken out. During the altercation, gunshots were fired, striking Lyons and another 28-year-old man.
Both men were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Lyons ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The second victim sustained gunshot wounds but was expected to survive. His identity was not publicly disclosed.
Immediately following the shooting, the Baltimore County Police Department initiated an investigation into the homicide. Authorities appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting. Despite their efforts and public appeals for witnesses to come forward, there have been no publicly announced arrests, suspects, or significant updates in the case. The investigation into the death of Keonta Montez Lyons remains open as his family awaits justice.
