In the early morning hours of April 7, 2018, the life of 28-year-old Marquis Johnson was tragically cut short in Baltimore, Maryland. The incident unfolded outside of Bill's Place, a carryout restaurant on West Baltimore Street, a popular spot for late-night crowds. It was here that Johnson suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including fatal injuries to his neck, chest, and thigh.
The investigation into Johnson's death led authorities to Dante Henderson.
A critical piece of evidence in the case was surveillance footage from both inside and outside the restaurant. The video captured interactions between Henderson and Johnson shortly before the fatal shooting. Further strengthening the case against Henderson was the testimony of a key witness, a part-owner of the restaurant and a close friend of Johnson, who told the court he saw Henderson standing over Johnson and shooting him.
Following the investigation, Dante Henderson was arrested and faced a number of charges, including first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime. Despite his defense team's efforts to have the charges dismissed, Henderson was ultimately convicted for the murder of Marquis Johnson. In a lingering detail of the case, the weapon used in the shooting was never recovered by law enforcement.
