In the early morning hours of May 27, 2019, Cyril Briscoe, a 26-year-old male, was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting in Prince George's County, Maryland. Briscoe, an up-and-coming rapper in the Takoma Park area known by his stage name 'DatManRell,' was a resident of Chillum, Maryland. His death sent shockwaves through his community, where friends, family, and fans mourned the loss of a burgeoning musical talent.
The incident unfolded at approximately 5:15 a.m.
as Briscoe and other passengers were traveling in a vehicle along the 1500 block of Chillum Road. At that time, an unidentified vehicle pulled up alongside them, and an unknown assailant or assailants opened fire into Briscoe's car. Despite the hail of bullets, Briscoe was the only occupant of the vehicle to be struck. Following the shooting, the driver of the car carrying Briscoe proceeded to the 3300 block of Chauncey Place in Mount Rainier, where emergency services were summoned. Upon their arrival, first responders found Briscoe inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of Cyril Briscoe was immediately launched by the Prince George's County Police Department. However, the case has remained unsolved. Detectives have been working to identify both a motive and the suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder.
