Zoe Spears, a 23-year-old transgender woman, was tragically shot and killed on June 13, 2019, in Fairmount Heights, Maryland, a suburb of Capitol Heights. Spears was found with multiple gunshot wounds on a sidewalk in the 600 block of 59th Avenue. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death occurred less than three months after the murder of her friend, Ashanti Carmon, another transgender woman who was killed just a few blocks away.
