On a Wednesday morning in September, a dispute over money between two acquaintances in Pasadena, Maryland, escalated into a fatal encounter. Forty-four-year-old Jeffrey Thomas Dickinson had traveled by scooter to the home of Gregory Richard Korwek on Orr Court to confront him about a debt. The situation turned tragic when Korwek, then 40, used a shotgun to shoot and kill Dickinson in his driveway.
When Anne Arundel County Police officers arrived at the scene around 9:30 a.m.
on September 18, 2019, they found Korwek, who immediately confessed to the shooting. Dickinson, a male, was pronounced dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound. Investigators later determined that despite Korwek's claims of being threatened, text messages between the two men did not indicate any threats of violence from Dickinson. Evidence also suggested that no physical altercation had occurred before the shooting.
The investigation into Jeffrey Thomas Dickinson's death led to the arrest of Gregory Richard Korwek in December of that year. He faced a series of charges, including second-degree murder and manslaughter. The inquiry also revealed that Korwek was legally prohibited from owning firearms due to a prior felony conviction. A search of his residence uncovered more than a dozen firearms, as well as various drugs, leading to additional charges for firearm and drug possession. Korwek was subsequently held without bond.
