In the early morning hours of February 2, 2020, the life of 29-year-old Marvin Kosh, a Black male, was tragically cut short on the 2200 block of West Saratoga Street in Baltimore, Maryland. Responding to a call at approximately 2:56 a.m., police discovered Kosh inside a 2019 Kia Optima, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. He was rushed to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he died shortly after arrival.
The Baltimore Police Department immediately began investigating the case as a homicide.
The investigation into Marvin Kosh's death revealed a chilling plot of revenge and betrayal. It was determined that Kosh had been lured to the desolate park by Tashonda Childs, a woman he knew. Waiting in ambush was Sean Braxton-Carter. The prosecution would later argue that this was a carefully orchestrated 'allure, ambush and attack.' Braxton-Carter then shot Kosh sixteen times in what was described as an act of retaliation for two previous shootings that had occurred in 2014 and 2016.
Following the murder, Sean Braxton-Carter and Tashonda Childs fled Maryland, traveling to several locations before ending up in Atlanta. However, upon their return to Maryland, Childs contacted the police and implicated Braxton-Carter in the shooting. In March 2022, Tashonda Childs pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder for her role in the crime. In December 2023, she was sentenced to ten years in prison.
Sean Braxton-Carter was convicted of first-degree murder and multiple weapons charges in October 2023. At his trial, Tashonda Childs testified against him, providing a firsthand account of the murder. In May 2024, a judge sentenced Braxton-Carter to life in prison plus an additional 20 years for the murder of Marvin Kosh.
