In the winter of 2020, the life of 32-year-old Jacquelin Burley, a Black/African American mother of two, was tragically cut short in Baltimore, Maryland. On the evening of February 23, Burley was shot multiple times in the head, neck, and abdomen. The shooting took place near the Douglass Homes public housing complex, a grim setting for the violence that would forever alter her family's life.
