In the early morning hours of June 28, 2020, a dispute between two acquaintances in Suitland, Maryland, ended in tragedy, leaving one man dead and another facing murder charges. Kelvin Alston, a 33-year-old male, was discovered by Prince George's County Police officers inside his car on the 2300 block of Brooks Drive at approximately 3:05 a.m. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Alston's death moved swiftly, and within a
day, authorities had a suspect in custody. Marcus Wardlaw, a 23-year-old from the neighboring community of Capitol Heights, was arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting. According to police, Wardlaw and Alston were known to each other, and the shooting was the culmination of an ongoing dispute between the two men. In a significant development in the case, authorities reported that Wardlaw admitted his involvement in the crime.
Following his arrest, Marcus Wardlaw was charged with first and second-degree murder, in addition to two gun-related offenses. He was taken into the custody of the Department of Corrections to await legal proceedings. His first court appearance was scheduled for July 29, 2020. The resolution of the case through the legal system would determine the final chapter in the untimely death of Kelvin Alston.
