In the light of a summer day in Baltimore, Maryland, tragedy struck the family of Devontaey Curtis, a 21-year-old Black/African American male. On July 11, 2020, Curtis was fatally shot in the 4800 block of The Alameda in North Baltimore, not far from his family's home. The brazen act of violence cut short a young life, leaving a community to grapple with the sudden and senseless loss.
