In the early hours of March 13, 2021, violence erupted in the 1400 block of West Saratoga Street in West Baltimore, forever altering the course of a young man's life. Lewis Wright III, a 32-year-old Black male, was found suffering from gunshot wounds at approximately 1:45 AM. Emergency responders swiftly transported him to an area hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Wright succumbed to his injuries two days later, on March 15, 2021.
The investigation into the fatal shooting led Baltimore police to identify a suspect. Through their investigative work, authorities pinpointed 28-year-old Al Pete Gaymon III as the individual allegedly responsible for Lewis Wright III's death. On March 22, 2021, Gaymon was formally charged with first-degree murder. Following his arrest, he was held at Central Booking without the possibility of bail. The case was part of a series of violent incidents that occurred in Baltimore around that time.
