On a summer evening in Baltimore, tragedy began to unfold for Terry Lewis, a 47-year-old Black male. On August 19, 2021, in the 5100 block of Reisterstown Road, Lewis was found suffering from gunshot wounds. The initial attack did not immediately claim his life, but it set him on a long and ultimately fatal course. For seven months, he endured the severe injuries inflicted upon him that day.
The fight for his life came to an end on March 20, 2022, when Terry Lewis succumbed to the
complications from the shooting. Following his death, the medical examiner's office conducted an autopsy and officially ruled his death a homicide. This ruling confirmed that the events of that August day were the direct cause of his passing, turning an aggravated assault case into a murder investigation.
Nearly a year after the initial shooting, the Baltimore Police Department made an arrest in connection with Lewis's death. In July 2022, authorities took 45-year-old Gregory Eugene Young into custody. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder for the shooting death of Terry Lewis. Following his arrest, Young was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility to await legal proceedings. Court records indicate that he was served with an arrest warrant charging him with both first- and second-degree murder, among other offenses, and he was held without bail.
