In the autumn of 2021, a dispute between two acquaintances escalated into a fatal encounter in a parking lot in Landover, Maryland, leaving one man dead and another facing murder charges. On the evening of October 22, 2021, officers from the Prince George's County Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 1900 block of Belle Haven Drive.
Upon arrival, they discovered 34-year-old Anthony Forest suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency services transported Forest to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he died a short time later. The initial investigation by homicide detectives suggested that the shooting was not a random act of violence. Investigators believed that Forest knew the individual who shot him and that the deadly confrontation was the result of an ongoing dispute.
Several months later, in March of 2022, the Prince George's County Police Department announced a significant development in the case. Homicide detectives arrested 20-year-old Charlie Stevenson of District Heights and charged him in connection with Forest's death. Stevenson was taken into the custody of the Department of Corrections and charged with first-degree murder, among other charges. He was held on a no-bond status.
