In the summer of 2022, a violent encounter in Baltimore irrevocably altered the course of Nigel Arrington's life. On August 10th, the 24-year-old Black male was shot in the 5300 block of Eastbury Avenue. The shooting left him a quadriplegic, beginning a long and arduous journey of medical treatment and rehabilitation that spanned over a year. Despite the extensive care he received, his health ultimately declined.
More than a year after the shooting that had so profoundly impacted him,
Nigel Arrington passed away in a local hospital on November 27, 2023, at the age of 26. Following his death, his body was taken to the Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy. On February 2, 2024, the medical examiner officially ruled his death a homicide, concluding that it was a direct result of the injuries he sustained in the 2022 shooting.
The Baltimore Police Department has been investigating the shooting since it occurred. However, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in connection with the shooting that led to Arrington's death. The case remains an open and active homicide investigation as authorities continue to seek information from the public to bring resolution to the case and provide answers for his family. His mother organized a fundraiser to help with funeral expenses.
