In the pre-dawn hours of a Sunday morning, the quiet of a Temple Hills, Maryland, neighborhood was broken by the sound of gunfire. On August 14, 2022, at approximately 3:00 a.m., patrol officers from the Prince George's County Police Department were dispatched to the 2600 block of Colebrook Drive following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man outside, suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as 29-year-old Anton Meachum of Temple Hills.
Emergency medical personnel transported Meachum to a local hospital in a courageous fight for his life. For over two weeks, he clung to life, but the severity of his injuries proved insurmountable. On Monday, August 29, 2022, Anton Meachum succumbed to his wounds and passed away.
His death prompted the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit to take charge of the investigation, which was now officially a murder case.
In the days and weeks that followed, detectives began the arduous process of canvassing the neighborhood, seeking to uncover any leads that might point to a suspect or a motive in the shooting.
