In the evening hours of October 15, 2022, a violent encounter on a Baltimore street cut short the life of 53-year-old Santos Munoz-Hernandez, a Hispanic male. The incident unfolded in the 2600 block of Wilkens Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. It was there that Munoz-Hernandez was shot.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and quickly transported Munoz-Hernandez to a nearby hospital for treatment of his life-threatening injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead later that same evening. Homicide detectives were called in to take control of the investigation into the fatal shooting.
The investigation into the death of Santos Munoz-Hernandez led Baltimore Police Department detectives to identify a suspect. On October 21, 2022, just six days after the shooting, members of the Warrant Apprehension Task Force located and arrested 35-year-old Travis Avery Rogers on Washington Boulevard.
Following his arrest, Rogers was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility. He was formally charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Santos Munoz-Hernandez, bringing a swift, if not yet final, development to a case that began with a burst of violence on a city street.
