Columbus W. Jones, a 24-year-old constable from Easley, South Carolina, tragically lost his life on July 7, 1904. Jones was serving as a constable for the Pickens County Magistrate's Office when he was fatally shot while attempting to arrest a man on a warrant near Kay's Mill. The incident occurred as Jones arrived at the suspect's home to serve the warrant. The suspect, upon seeing Jones, opened fire, resulting in Jones' immediate death.
