In the early morning hours of July 5, 2025, a domestic dispute in a home on Colonial Drive in Easley, South Carolina, ended in the shooting death of 44-year-old Clyde Eugene Davis III. A white male, Davis was discovered by first responders with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators from the Anderson County Sheriff's Office determined that the altercation involved Davis and his father.
According to the authorities, the incident escalated to a point where Davis, who was armed, reportedly threatened to kill his father and proceeded to strangle him. It was during this violent struggle that his father retrieved a firearm and shot his son.
Following a thorough investigation, which included witness interviews and an examination of the evidence, the Anderson County Sheriff's Office ruled the shooting as a justifiable homicide. Officials concluded that the father had acted in self-defense. As a result, no arrests were made, and no charges were filed in connection with the death of Clyde Davis III.
