Donald McMurray Ouzts, a 63-year-old constable with the Abbeville County Magistrate's Office, tragically lost his life on December 8, 2003, in Abbeville, South Carolina. Ouzts, along with Sergeant Danny Wilson of the Abbeville County Sheriff's Office, was fatally shot by members of the Bixby family. The incident occurred due to the family's anger over a small portion of their land being taken through eminent domain to widen Highway 72.
