On New Year's Day in 2014, a tragic and violent series of events began to unfold in North Charleston, South Carolina, that would ultimately claim the life of 52-year-old Janet Royal. A female resident of the city, Ms. Royal became the first victim in what authorities would later describe as a retaliatory feud. Her life was cut short when she was fatally shot, an act that set in motion a devastating chain of violence.
