Isiah D. Miles, a 35-year-old Black male, was found dead on March 3, 2014, in Aiken, South Carolina. His body was discovered on Green Road, a location described by local residents as typically quiet and peaceful, which added to the community's shock regarding the violent incident. Miles, who was known to have ties to the nearby Beech Island community, had fallen victim to gun violence.
Following the discovery, the Aiken County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into the
circumstances surrounding the shooting. The death prompted a strong reaction from neighbors and local organizations, who rallied around the victim's family, remembering Miles as a generous individual with a warm spirit.
Law enforcement eventually identified a suspect in connection with the homicide. Reginald Jerome Hamilton Jr. was arrested and subsequently charged for his role in the death of Isiah Miles. The legal proceedings concluded with a conviction, and Hamilton was sentenced to prison. He remains incarcerated within the South Carolina Department of Corrections, where he has pursued post-conviction relief hearings as recently as 2023 regarding his case.
