In the summer of 2015, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening calm in Anderson, South Carolina, abruptly ending the life of 24-year-old Roytavus Blanding, a Black man. On the night of July 28th, Blanding was sitting on a porch when he was struck in the head by a bullet from a passing vehicle. The Anderson County Coroner confirmed that he died at the scene.
