In the fall of 2019, the life of 38-year-old Korey 'Red' Korrell Harrison, a Black / African American male from Anderson, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. On Saturday, November 9th, 2019, Harrison was fatally shot at the Allison Square Apartments on Abbeville Highway. Deputies arrived at the scene just before 3 p.m. to find Harrison with a single gunshot wound; he succumbed to his injuries at the location.
The investigation into Harrison's death led to the identification of a
suspect, Keland Alexander Hailey. The incident occurred when Hailey entered the apartment of a woman and shot Harrison in the back. Subsequently, Hailey was arrested and faced charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Following a week-long trial, a jury convicted Keland Alexander Hailey on both charges. In April 2022, Hailey was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the murder of Korey Harrison, with a concurrent five-year sentence for the weapon possession charge.
