On a September afternoon in 2016, six-year-old Jacob Lee Hall, a male first-grader at Townville Elementary School in South Carolina, was on the school playground for a classmate's birthday party. The day took a tragic turn when a 14-year-old opened fire on the students and teachers. A bullet struck Jacob in the leg, hitting his femoral artery and causing massive blood loss.
