In the late afternoon of a day just before Thanksgiving, tragedy struck in the Bluffton, SC community. On November 23, 2016, a 17-year-old male named Shawntrey Nelson was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. near the basketball courts in the University Park neighborhood, a place that should have been a site of recreation and youthful energy.
