Shawntrey Malik Nelson, a 17-year-old from Bluffton, South Carolina, tragically lost his life on November 23, 2016. Shawntrey was a promising young athlete who attended Battery Creek High School and had a passion for sports, particularly football, track, and basketball. On that fateful day, Shawntrey was shot near the basketball courts at University Park in Bluffton around 4:45 p.m. He was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
