On New Year's Day in 2017, a tragic event unfolded in a West Columbia, South Carolina home, claiming the lives of four individuals, including 4-year-old Elijah Chavez. The young boy, along with his 1-year-old sister, Ezra Chavez, and their 26-year-old mother, Marissa Hope Reynoso, were found deceased in their Old Barnwell Road residence. The investigation concluded that this was a murder-suicide perpetrated by the children's father, 25-year-old Jorge Luis Chavez.
