On the evening of April 23, 2017, a tragic series of events unfolded at a residence on Airport Road near Pageland, South Carolina, culminating in the death of 25-year-old Darrius Lamont Robinson. The incident began when a woman arrived at Robinson's home, purportedly to purchase drugs. When Robinson informed her that he had none, two masked men forcibly entered the home.
In the presence of Robinson's girlfriend and a 4-year-old child, one of the intruders shot Robinson in the chest.
The investigation into the home invasion and murder led by the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office resulted in the arrest of seven individuals. Daquan Marquis Timmons, 22, and Jamison Jashawn Chambers, 19, were charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Four other individuals were charged with armed robbery in connection with the incident: Milik Zyria Smith, 17, Imija Kadrious Smith, 19, Randi Samone Rivers, 20, and Taquacious Rasheeda Funderburk, 19. A seventh person, Laquesha Lashay Funderburk, 24, faced charges of accessory before and after the fact of murder. The motive for the home invasion was reported to be drug-related. At the time of the initial arrests, law enforcement was still seeking the whereabouts of Taquacious Funderburk. The violent nature of the crime and the number of individuals involved brought significant attention to the case within the community.
