Montez La'Tra 'Tez' Smith, a 22-year-old Black male from Louisville, Kentucky, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 1, 2017. The incident occurred at a residence located at 1020 Magazine Street in the Russell neighborhood. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 2 a.m. from what was determined to be a single gunshot wound.
