In the quiet town of Walterboro, South Carolina, a heartbreaking incident unfolded that cut short the life of three-year-old Aiden Martin. The young male child's life came to a tragic end on May 5, 2018, from a gunshot wound. The preceding night, on May 4th, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a sudden 'pop' was heard from the kitchen of a mobile home on Robinson Road.
Aiden was discovered shortly after with a gunshot wound.
At the time of the incident, Aiden was with his father, Allen Michael Martin, and several other adults were reportedly present at the residence. In the immediate aftermath, the child was rushed to Colleton Medical Center in his father's vehicle and was subsequently airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital.
Initially, the authorities were investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and it was considered an accidental death based on preliminary findings. However, the investigation continued, and on May 15, 2018, Aiden's father, 28-year-old Allen Michael Martin, was arrested. He was charged with two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Colleton County Detention Center. The charges against him stemmed from the allegation that he placed his son in unreasonable risk of harm.
