In the late winter of 2018, the life of 27-year-old Donovan LaShawn Blevins, a male, came to a sudden and violent end in Walterboro, South Carolina. On the morning of February 24th, events escalated at a Motel 6 located at 33 Campground Road, stemming from a domestic issue. Blevins had gone to the motel where his estranged wife was visiting a male friend.
Seeking entry into the motel room, Blevins broke a window to gain access.
A confrontation then erupted between Blevins and the male friend of his estranged wife. The altercation quickly turned deadly as a physical fight between the two men resulted in Blevins being shot. Walterboro Police and Colleton County Fire Rescue responded to the scene to find Blevins with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the motel.
An investigation into the fatal shooting was launched by the Walterboro Police Department. Following the investigation, the authorities ruled that the shooting of Donovan Blevins was an act of self-defense. As a result of this determination, no charges were filed against the man who shot him.
