In the spring of 2018, a wave of violence shattered the community of Hopkins, South Carolina, culminating in the tragic death of 17-year-old Amon Rice. The male teenager was fatally shot on May 10, 2018, in a rural area on Greenlake Drive, near the Unity Missionary Baptist Church. He succumbed to his injuries two days later in a Columbia hospital.
