In the summer of 2018, the life of 18-year-old Kelvin Ramone Creech was cut short in Allendale, South Carolina. A Black male with a future that held the promise of marriage and fatherhood, he was found deceased on Bing Street on July 13, 2018, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. At the time of his death, he was engaged and looking forward to the birth of his child.
In the days leading up to his death, there were signs of trouble.
A bullet had been fired into the home where he was living, a precursor to the violence that would ultimately claim his life. On that fateful Friday, Kelvin had warned his cousin and a neighbor to get off the street, telling them that a man with a gun was pursuing him. This desperate flight would be his last.
Those who knew Kelvin remember a young man with a passion for dancing and drawing, and a mind that his mother hoped would one day lead him to a career as an engineer. He was described as being ready and excited for the responsibilities of fatherhood.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division took the lead in the investigation into his homicide. However, despite their efforts, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made in connection with the case, nor has any information been released about potential suspects. The community was left to mourn the loss of a young life, with his family still awaiting justice.
