On the evening of March 21, 2018, events inside a unit at the Pinewood Apartments in Allendale, South Carolina, turned tragically fatal for 18-year-old Tyrek Mitchell. A dispute, reportedly over a missing tablet, escalated to deadly violence. Inside the apartment, Jamel Dajour Williams locked the door, brandished a handgun, and threatened Mitchell. The high school senior reportedly tripped and, with his hands raised, pleaded for his life before being shot multiple times.
