Known affectionately as 'Whammy' to his friends and family, McKever was a man who found joy in
the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for driving trucks, the sizzle of food on a grill, and traveling with his wife, Charmeine. Those who knew him described him as humble and kind-hearted, a person who could easily forge a friendship with anyone he met. His sudden death left a profound void in the hearts of his loved ones and the wider Allendale community.
In the days that followed the shooting, law enforcement worked diligently to solve the case. The collaborative efforts of the Allendale County Sheriff's Office, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources proved fruitful. On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, two suspects, Tyrese Lofton and Javon Odoms, were taken into custody without incident.
