In the late summer of 2018, concern began to grow for Wade Lamar Brannon, a 48-year-old Black male from Trenton, South Carolina. His family had not seen him since early September and reported him missing. The last time anyone had seen him was on September 9, 2018, walking down Knight Lane in Trenton. At the time of his disappearance, he was believed to be wearing white shirts, black cotton pants, and white shoes.
His loved ones feared he could be in danger.
Weeks turned into a month, and the search for Wade continued. On Monday, October 15, 2018, the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office made a grim discovery. The remains of Wade Lamar Brannon were found in a wooded area off of Knight Lane, the very same street where he was last seen. It was apparent that he had been deceased for some time before his body was located.
An autopsy was conducted on October 17, 2018, which positively identified the remains as those of Wade Brannon. The examination revealed a tragic end to his life; he had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. His death was officially ruled a homicide, launching a murder investigation by the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office. According to his obituary, Wade Lamar Brannon's life was tragically cut short on September 6, 2018.
The community was left to mourn the loss of a man born in the Bronx, New York, who had graduated from Strom Thurmond High School in Edgefield County. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The investigation into his death is ongoing, and authorities have asked that anyone with information regarding the case come forward. To date, no arrests or suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murder of Wade Lamar Brannon.
