Simeon James Frazier Sr., a 59-year-old male, was a beloved pastor and author in his community. On the morning of June 6, 2019, he was found inside his Lyman, South Carolina, home with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Spartanburg Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Frazier was the president of the Apostolic Prophetic Training Bible Institute and was described by his daughter-in-law as a 'genuine, honest, God-fearing man' who had traveled the world preaching.
He was a husband, a father to three sons, and a grandfather to six grandchildren.
The investigation into Frazier's death quickly focused on his 30-year-old stepson, Andrico Rashad Stewart, who was living at the home at the time. A witness at the scene identified Stewart as the shooter. Following the shooting, Stewart fled the residence in a van. While the van was later recovered by the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, the handgun believed to have been used in the shooting was not immediately found. Authorities warned the public that Stewart should be considered armed and dangerous and urged anyone who saw him not to approach him but to call 911.
Andrico Rashad Stewart was subsequently charged with murder, use of a weapon during a violent crime, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. His criminal history included prior charges for resisting arrest, grand larceny, assault, and weapons offenses. While the motive for the shooting was not immediately established by law enforcement, the tragic event left Frazier's family and community in mourning. His daughter-in-law expressed their profound loss, stating, 'He didn't deserve to die like this...The type of person he was — he deserved to die peacefully in his sleep.'
