In the early morning hours of July 1, 2019, a burst of violence outside a North Charleston, South Carolina sports bar claimed the life of Lamont Perez 'LP' Simmons. The 34-year-old man was found shot on the ground in the 3500 block of Dorchester Road after police responded to a call at approximately 1:43 a.m. He was rushed to the Medical University of South Carolina, but tragically, his wounds proved fatal.
Born in Charleston on September 6, 1984, Lamont was a son of Yvonne Simmons and
Anthony Pinckney. His death left a void in the lives of his four children, Ja’Niya, Kimora, Perez’jah, and Charisma, as well as his siblings and a host of other relatives and friends who remembered him as a loving individual.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the North Charleston Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. At the time, authorities reported that the suspect had not been identified, and the investigation was actively ongoing. Despite the initial efforts by law enforcement, publicly available information has not detailed any subsequent arrests or the identification of any suspects in connection with the murder of Lamont Simmons.
