In the late summer of 2019, the life of a young man named Jerel Kyler Borden-Gadson was tragically cut short in Florence, South Carolina. At the age of 25, the male victim passed away on September 23, 2019. Originally from Pittsfield, Massachusetts, where he was born on January 4, 1994, he had moved to South Carolina during his elementary school years.
He would go on to graduate from Darlington High School in 2012, where he was a proud and active member of the Marching Falcons Drumline.
Known for his high-spirited and exuberant personality, Jerel had a positive energy that uplifted those around him. His infectious smile was a hallmark of his character, capable of winning over the hearts of many. At the time of his passing, he was an employee of FedEx Freight in Florence. He was a loving and supportive young man who deeply cherished his family, especially his three children. He was a dedicated father who took great pride in his role.
Jerel, who was affectionately known as 'Manny' to some, had a fun-loving and playful side, often emerging when it was time to take pictures. He enjoyed spending his free time with his loved ones, engaging in activities such as playing basketball, taking trips to the beach, and having cookouts, where he was always the one in charge of the grill. His love also extended to his nieces and nephews, with whom he enjoyed playing in the pool and going down the water slide. A devoted fan of the New England Patriots, he could be found avidly cheering for his favorite football team during the season.
