In the late hours of a November night in 2019, the life of Montresse Dudely, a 41-year-old Black male from Judson, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. On November 30th, in a field across from a nightclub on Heustess Road in Dillon County, Dudely was shot and killed. When law enforcement and emergency services arrived at the scene, he was pronounced dead by the Dillon County Coroner, Donnie Grimsley.
The cause of death was determined to be gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the shooting quickly revealed that it was not a random act of violence. The Dillon County Sheriff's Office identified a suspect in the killing, Allen Little Jr. A warrant for murder was issued for his arrest, and authorities began a manhunt to locate him. The Sheriff's Office urged anyone with information on Little's whereabouts to come forward to assist in the investigation.
In the wake of his death, the communities of Judson and Dillon County mourned the loss of Montresse Dudely. Funeral services were held on December 7, 2019, at Manning Baptist Church, followed by a burial at Roadside Memorial Gardens in Dillon County.
