In the late summer of 2017, the life of a young man, Islam Elijah Bonner, was cut short in Florence, South Carolina. On September 22, 2017, the 20-year-old male was found deceased in a vehicle in the 300 block of North Locus Street. The Florence County Coroner later confirmed that Bonner had sustained a gunshot wound, and his death was officially ruled a homicide, prompting an investigation by the Florence County Sheriff's Office.
