In the winter of 2019, a domestic altercation in Florence, South Carolina, ended in tragedy, claiming the life of Antonio Bacote, a 44-year-old Black male. On the evening of December 6th, at the Country Squire Mobile Home Park, what began as a dispute escalated to fatal violence. Bacote was shot and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Florence County Coroner's Office confirmed that a gunshot wound was the cause of death, a finding that would later be solidified by an autopsy
conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina. The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect within the household.
Authorities arrested 17-year-old Khalil Shyheim Williams in connection with the death of Bacote, who was identified as his mother's boyfriend. The teenager was taken into custody and charged with murder. He was subsequently booked into the Florence County Detention Center as the legal process against him commenced. The motive for the shooting was reported to be an altercation that spiraled out of control.
