In the late summer of 2022, a burst of violence shattered the peace in Florence, South Carolina, leading to the untimely death of Kalique Akeem Allen. A 26-year-old male, Allen was fatally shot on the evening of Tuesday, August 30, 2022. The incident unfolded in the 500 block of South Cashua Drive, where law enforcement officers were dispatched following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene.
Allen was found deceased, having succumbed to his injuries at the location of the attack.
Alongside Allen, a female companion was also found suffering from critical gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services were promptly called, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Her condition was described as critical, highlighting the severity of the violence that had transpired.
The Florence Police Department, with assistance from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, launched an immediate and thorough investigation into the double shooting. Their efforts quickly bore fruit. Just two days later, on September 1, 2022, an arrest was made in connection with the fatal shooting. The suspect was identified as Devon Isaac, also a resident of Florence.
Investigators determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence but rather a targeted attack. Isaac was subsequently charged with murder for his alleged role in the death of Kalique Allen. In addition to the murder charge, he also faced charges of attempted murder for the grievous injuries inflicted upon the female victim and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Following his arrest, Devon Isaac was taken into custody as the legal process against him commenced.
