In the early morning hours of January 10, 2020, a planned robbery in Greenville, South Carolina, escalated into a violent exchange of gunfire, ending the life of 25-year-old Jalen Takis Mayes. The fatal incident unfolded at Piney Mountain Park on Worley Road, where Mayes was shot. He was quickly transported to North Greenville Hospital in Travelers Rest but succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival.
