Carmen Gutierrez Rodriguez, a 41-year-old woman from the North Hills neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley, was tragically killed on January 18, 2017, in San Bernardino, California. She was shot multiple times in the parking lot of Gaby’s Cafe on North Mount Vernon Avenue. Authorities revealed that her murder had been orchestrated from behind bars by members of the Mexican Mafia as part of a plot to send a message to her husband, who was suspected of cooperating with law enforcement. Several individuals involved in the conspiracy were eventually charged, with some of them pleading guilty to their roles in the crime.
