In the summer of 2020, the life of a young man was tragically cut short in Lake City, South Carolina. Jordan Stanford Spencer, a 27-year-old Black male, died on Saturday, June 13, 2020, from a gunshot wound. The incident that led to his untimely death unfolded on Rae Street, shattering the quiet of the morning.
Investigations into the shooting revealed a history of domestic discord. Spencer was involved in an intimate relationship with Lakitha Marie Wiley, a 41-year-old woman.
On that fateful morning, a verbal argument between the couple escalated into a physical altercation. In the heat of the moment, Wiley allegedly produced a firearm and shot Spencer. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival.
Following the incident, Lakitha Marie Wiley fled the scene. However, she was later apprehended by the Florence County Sheriff's Office. Wiley was subsequently charged with first-degree manslaughter and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
