In the winter of 2022, the life of 20-year-old Jaheim Tariq Hanna was tragically cut short in Lake City, South Carolina. A Black male, Hanna was reported missing by his concerned family, who began a desperate search for their loved one. Their worst fears were realized on February 18, 2022, when Hanna's body was discovered in the vicinity of Graham Road.
The Florence County Coroner's Office would later confirm that he had died from a gunshot wound to the head, turning a missing person's case into a homicide investigation.
As the Lake City Police Department delved into the circumstances surrounding Hanna's death, their investigation led them to a person of interest. Through interviews, forensic analysis, and the review of video surveillance footage, authorities identified Kaleb Toby McFadden as the primary suspect in the murder. Police determined that McFadden had been with Hanna around the time of his death. In May 2022, law enforcement officials announced that they had secured warrants for McFadden's arrest on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
