In the early morning hours of September 8, 2020, the life of 20-year-old Antwanaza Rogers, a Black female, was tragically cut short in Greenville, South Carolina. Just before 4 a.m., deputies from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to Anderson Road after reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Rogers inside a car with a fatal gunshot wound.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation swiftly pointed to a domestic dispute that had escalated to a devastating conclusion. Authorities determined that Rogers had been shot by her 21-year-old husband, Ianteves Lamar Rogers, following an argument as she was returning home. The young mother, described by a neighbor as a sweet and quiet individual who always had a smile, left behind a young child. Her family revealed that there had been a history of problems in the couple's marriage and that they had urged her to leave.
Later that same day, Ianteves Lamar Rogers was located and arrested in the neighboring Pickens County. He was subsequently charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Following his arrest, he was held at the Greenville County Detention Center without bond. In a subsequent court appearance, Ianteves Lamar Rogers pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife.
